Day 6 - April 6, 2010

This is my cubicle at work. It's very spacious for only being an intern. Unfortunately, I don't have any neighbors in my aisle. I'm allowed to listen to my Ipod at work, so it's not so bad.

I finally started the 2nd half of my project today. It involved alot of product identification searching through the store website. I also did upgrades to the Blu-ray section of the website. That was exciting because I really like working on websites. I had to be careful not to mess anything up or else I could have erased the whole website.

Day 5- April 5, 2010

Today, I continued to work on the rebate files. It's a very large file. Thankfully, it's organized. I was talking to my supervisor about all the bands he gets connections with, and I told him how Killswitch Engage is my favorite band. He actually had an autograhed cd of their newest cd, and he gave it to me. I definately have the best internship.

Day 4 - March 31, 2010

I continued to work on the rebate file update again. It's very repetitive after awhile, but I'd rather be doing that than making photocopies. My supervisor said once I get the major portion of the update done, the work will be a lot more at ease. It's nice to know he puts himself into my shoes, and understands how dry some of the work can be.

Day 3 Internship - March 29, 2010

I worked on a lot of promotional mailings today. It involved a lot of signed cd sleeves by the artists. Some of the artists consisted of Motion City Soundtrack, Easton Corbin, Katatonia, and several others. This took me a very long time. It was a lot of envelope stuffing, but I only ended up with one papercut!
After I finished that project, I continued working on my weekly spreadsheet of rebates. I'm starting to get the hang of it, so I can work much faster. It's a lot of copy and pasting.

Day 2 Internship - March 25

Today I started one of my weekly projects. It involves the use of Excel going through all the rebates the company uses for its sales. It's a lot of work, but it's definately something I have never done before. It allowed me to see how their sale items are picked in order to generate profit.
I received more positive feedback today. My supervisor is incredibly flexible with my schedule, and understands that I drive over an hour to get to Albany. He commented on my ability to do work quickly, and said I'm very organized, which are two qualities any major employer will look for in a potential employee.

Day 1 Internship - March 23, 2010

My first day of interning was a great experience! I had a tour of Trans World Entertainment, and had a breif orientation. Everyone in my department is incredibly nice and very professional. My first assignment was to critique the FYE.Com website. It was fun being able to my input towards the organization's website. I feel my input was valuable, and I recieved kudos for having organized notes.
I spoke with my supervisor about what my goals were for my internship, and what I wanted to get out of the experience. He said I will not be doing "typical" internship tasks, such as making photocopies. I will be doing a lot of hands-on work within the department. I'm very pleased about that because I will be able to get an in-dept experience that way.
I also put together some promotional mailing materials. I even recieved an autographed copy of Lady Antebellum's cd sleeve.
